Over 120,000 Australians are employed in the Seafood Industry. Many of these Aussies live and work in Rural and Regional centres across the country.
The domestic market consists of 238,000 tonnes across 800 species earning $2.1 billion. Western Australia and Tasmania are Australia's largest seafood producers each representing 22% of the market, with South Australia a close third with 18 percent.
Australia's aquaculture sector earnt $793 million last year and experiences annual growth of between 7-10%. |
